Steel sandwich panels can be divided according to core material structure: I-shaped core material with straight web as core material, O-shaped core material with rectangular beam as core material, Vf/ with hat-shaped or corrugated plate as core material V-shaped core material, X-shaped core material with two cap materials as core material.
Introduction to sandwich panels
- According to the core material structure, steel sandwich panels can be divided into: I-shaped core material with straight web as the core material, O-shaped core material with rectangular beam as the core material, Vf/V core material with hat-shaped or corrugated plate as the core material Material, X-shaped core material with two cap materials as core material.
- Other types of profiles such as C, U or Z can also be used as cores. By using a sandwich structure, a high strength-to-weight ratio can be achieved, i.e. sandwich structures are 30-50% lighter than traditional steel applications.
- Sandwich panels in which the top and bottom plates as well as the core are made of steel are called steel sandwich panels or steel sandwich structures.
- The use of laser welding can reduce welding deformation, increase productivity, and improve the corrosion resistance of welds.
