ASTM/ASME A252/SA252 Steel Piling Pipe is a structural pipe ideally suited for use in buildings, retaining walls, and other structures that require strong, reliable, high-quality steel piling pipe for their structure.
ASTM Specification A252 describes cylindrical nominal (average) wall steel pipe piles and is applicable to pipe piles where the steel cylinder serves as a permanent load-bearing member or as an outer shell forming a cast-in-place concrete pile.
Surface imperfections exceeding 25% of the nominal wall depth are considered defects. Defects whose depth does not exceed 22.5% of the nominal wall thickness can be repaired by welding. Defects should be completely removed before welding.

Mechanical testing: Tensile test: longitudinal or transverse direction, at manufacturer's choice.
Number of tests: Tensile test every 200 lengths.
Wall thickness: no more than 12.5% of the specified nominal wall thickness.
Weight per foot: The weight of any individual pipe shall not vary more than 15 percent of the specified weight or less than 5 percent of the specified weight. Each individual length should be weighed individually.
Outside diameter: May not deviate from the specified diameter by more than plus or minus 1%.
